TDS Statement Form Selection: Salary, Domestic and Non-Resident Payments
Choose the period-specific statement from payment type, deductee and tax-law regime.

Choose the period-specific statement from payment type, deductee and tax-law regime. Use the sections below to understand the practical decisions, records and compliance points before taking action.
Start with the deduction period
The return form and statutory reference depend on whether the transaction belongs to a legacy financial year or a tax year under the current law transition. Use the form notified for that period.
Separate salary from non-salary
Salary deductions and domestic non-salary payments use different quarterly statement structures and annexures. Payroll and vendor ledgers should not be mixed.
Identify non-resident payments
Payments to non-residents require the applicable statement, remittance facts, treaty or domestic-rate analysis and correct reporting fields.
Keep TCS separate
Tax collection statements follow their own form and data. Do not combine TDS and TCS merely because both use TAN and TRACES.
Identify challan-cum-statement cases
Specified property, rent, individual or HUF payment and virtual-asset transactions can use a challan-cum-statement rather than a regular quarterly TAN statement, with period-specific forms.
Document the selection
Keep a payment-category map, sections, deductee status and applicable return type for each quarter or tax period.
