UAN, KYC and Member Data Checklist for PF Return
Validate employee identity, UAN, joining and scheme information before ECR filing.

Validate employee identity, UAN, joining and scheme information before ECR filing. Use the sections below to understand the practical decisions, records and compliance points before taking action.
Create one reliable employee master
Keep UAN, member ID, name, date of birth, gender, Aadhaar status, bank, joining date and scheme membership aligned with payroll and source records.
Avoid creating duplicate UANs
Search and use the existing UAN where applicable. Duplicate identities can affect service history, passbook, transfer and claim processing.
Review joining eligibility
Document prior membership, wages at joining, excluded-employee position and international-worker facts before applying contribution treatment.
Check KYC and profile differences early
Name, date of birth or identity mismatch can block or delay member services. Use the current member or joint-declaration workflow with valid evidence where correction is needed.
Record exit details promptly
When employment ends, reconcile last wage month, contribution, date and reason of exit. Incorrect exit data can affect later transfer and withdrawal.
Protect employee information
UAN, Aadhaar, bank and salary data are sensitive. Restrict access, use secure files and retain only authorised audit evidence.
