Reconcile TDS, interest, securities, property and tax payments with books and evidence. Use the sections below to understand the practical decisions, records and compliance points before taking action.

01

Download all three information views

Review Annual Information Statement, Taxpayer Information Summary and Form 26AS for the relevant assessment year. Each has a different role and none replaces underlying records.

02

Match tax deductions and payments

Compare TDS or TCS, advance tax and self-assessment tax with certificates, challans and books. Resolve wrong PAN, year, amount or deductor reporting where possible.

03

Trace reported financial information

AIS may include interest, dividends, securities, property, foreign remittance, GST and other reported information. Classify each item into the correct income and schedule.

04

Use feedback without hiding income

AIS feedback can flag duplicate or incorrect information, but it does not itself amend a return or guarantee source correction. Report actual taxable income supported by evidence.

05

Explain differences

Timing, joint ownership, reimbursements, transfers, redemptions and gross-versus-net reporting can create legitimate differences. Preserve a reconciliation note and supporting documents.

06

Recheck after filing

Information statements may update. Monitor return processing and communications and use the appropriate correction mechanism when a material mismatch emerges.
