Complete verification, monitor processing and handle refund, defect or correction workflows. Use the sections below to understand the practical decisions, records and compliance points before taking action.

01

Submission is not the final step

An uploaded return must be verified using an available e-verification method or signed ITR-V. An unverified return can become invalid.

02

Use the current 30-day window

The Income Tax Department states that e-verification or submission of ITR-V is required within 30 days from filing under the current notification framework.

03

Preserve acknowledgment and verification

Download the ITR, computation, acknowledgment and verification confirmation. Confirm that status shows successfully e-verified rather than only uploaded.

04

Monitor processing and refund

Review intimation, tax credit, demand adjustment and refund status. Refund depends on processing and validation and should never be guaranteed.

05

Respond to defects correctly

A defective-return communication identifies issues and provides a response workflow. Read the communication, fix the actual defect and reply within the applicable time.

06

Use the right correction route

A revised return, updated return, rectification and response to notice serve different purposes and have separate conditions. Choose the route based on the error and statutory window.
