Prepare founder identity, office, charitable objects and governance records for Trust, Society or Section 8 registration. Use the sections below to understand the practical decisions, records and compliance points before taking action.

01

Founder and office-bearer identity

Prepare PAN, identity proof, recent address proof, photographs and contact details for proposed trustees, members, directors or office bearers. Section 8 signatories may also need DSC and director particulars.

02

Registered-office evidence

A recent utility bill, ownership or occupancy record and owner no-objection certificate may be required. Trust and Society requirements vary by state; Section 8 information must align across SPICe+ and linked forms.

03

Charitable objects and activity plan

Draft precise lawful objects, beneficiaries, operating geography and initial programmes. Avoid vague or internally inconsistent objects and review whether regulated activities such as education, health or child care need separate approvals.

04

Constitutional documents

The chosen form requires a trust deed, society memorandum and rules, or Section 8 MOA and AOA. Include governance, powers, meetings, succession, membership, conflicts, property and dissolution provisions appropriate to the form.

05

Name and founder decisions

Check names against applicable Registrar records and trademarks. Confirm initial trustees, members, directors, governing body, authority and contribution before execution.

06

Build a post-registration file

Retain registration certificate, signed constitution, PAN, bank records, minutes, registers, accounts and donation evidence. These records support tax, CSR, Darpan, grants and FCRA applications later.
