Startup India DPIIT Recognition Process
Follow eligibility review, profile preparation, innovation writing, submission and DPIIT evaluation.

Follow eligibility review, profile preparation, innovation writing, submission and DPIIT evaluation. Use the sections below to understand the practical decisions, records and compliance points before taking action.
Step 1: review eligibility before portal work
Confirm entity type, age, turnover, Indian registration, originality and innovation or scalability. Decide whether normal or DeepTech recognition is genuinely supported by current criteria and evidence.
Step 2: validate the entity profile
Match the entity name, incorporation number, date, PAN, address, industry, sector, directors or partners and authorised signatory with official records. Correct source records or profile data rather than forcing inconsistent information into the recognition form.
Step 3: prepare the innovation narrative
Describe the customer problem, solution, differentiation, technology or process, market and potential impact. Use clear facts, not generic claims such as unique, disruptive or AI-powered without explaining the actual improvement.
Step 4: organise evidence and declarations
Attach current supporting records and ensure every declaration about age, turnover, formation, related entities and lawful activity is accurate. False information can lead to rejection or later revocation.
Step 5: submit through the startup account
The startup should use its own email, mobile, login and authorised digital signature. Save the acknowledgement and track status through the official dashboard. Respond carefully if DPIIT asks for clarification.
Step 6: verify recognition and plan separately
After issue, verify and retain the certificate and keep profile details accurate. Evaluate 80-IAC, IP facilitation, procurement, seed funds or other programmes separately because recognition alone does not approve them.
